Pro calls Singh 'piece of trash' for reportedly entering Korn Ferry Tour event

Brady Schnell, a player on the Korn Ferry Tour, blasted Vijay Singh after it was reported that the 57-year-old is planning to enter the first tournament on the secondary circuit's schedule once play resumes in June.

Singh is a lifetime member on the PGA Tour and ranks fourth in all-time earnings with $71.2 million. But his lifetime exemption does not qualify him for the Charles Schwab Challenge, the invitational tournament that will mark the return of the 2019-20 season on June 11.

The best field available to Singh that runs concurrently with the PGA Tour is therefore the Korn Ferry Tour Challenge at Dye's Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass. The Champions Tour, where Singh usually plays, will not start until the end of July.

But the idea that Singh is potentially denying a Korn Ferry Tour member a spot in the event did not sit well with Schnell, a 35-year-old journeyman with 27 starts on the PGA Tour.

"It's one spot?! Do you know how much those points and money could do for a young kid?" Schnell continued on Twitter, according to ESPN's Tom VanHaaren. "He's a complete turd for playing. He's got his money and he's got his career. Just wait another month and roll with your senior friends."

Schnell's tweets have since been deleted.

Phil Mickelson came to Singh's defense despite the pair's differences, which stem from an argument in 2005 over golf spikes.
