Spurs select Devin Vassell with No. 11 pick
With the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs have selected Florida State standout Devin Vassell.
The 6-foot-7 wing thrived in his first full season as a starter, averaging 12.7 points on 49% shooting - including 41.5% from deep - as he earned All-ACC second-team honors during a breakthrough sophomore year.
Vassell was also a high-impact defender for a stingy defensive unit. He finished top 15 in the conference in both block and steal percentage this past year. The 20-year-old is confident those skills will carry over to the next level.
"I think I can come in right away and help any team defensively," Vassell told reporters, including theScore, during his recent NBA draft media availability. "Just the IQ that I have on the ball and off the ball. Being able to provide help defense. Being able to anticipate plays. ... I think I'll be able to make it more difficult for star players on other teams to have great games."
