Tomlin: Steelers 'preparing to play' vs. Titans despite COVID-19 outbreak

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the next team scheduled to face the Tennessee Titans, and they're preparing for business as usual.

The Titans announced Tuesday that three players and five personnel members tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the closure of their team facilities until Saturday.

However, the Titans-Steelers matchup has yet to be canceled or postponed.

"I'm sure they're pondering the possibilities as they gather information relative to the current circumstance. We, or I specifically, haven't been a part of those discussions. We're singularly focused on preparing to play," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said. "That's the element of the equation that we can control as we sit here today."

"We've been given a mandate to prepare as if the game is going to be played and played on time, and so that is our mentality," he added. "We've gone about today's business from a game-planning standpoint with that mentality, and we intend to push into tomorrow with a normal schedule."

Sunday's game is scheduled to take place at Nissan Stadium in Tennessee, and Tomlin isn't concerned about traveling to Nashville.

"We're going to trust the medical experts," he said. "If they deem it safe for us to proceed, then we're going to go down there with the intention of playing and playing to win."
