Bauer's agent: Star pitcher 'likes' where Mets are going

The New York Mets and free-agent ace Trevor Bauer appear to be flirting with each other as the virtual winter meetings get going.

“New York is ... Well, he (Bauer) likes where the organization is going," his agent Rachel Luba said, according to Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News. "It can definitely be a landing spot."

However, it seems the reigning NL Cy Young winner is going to do his due diligence before deciding where he plays next season and beyond.

"We're set enough to be in a position where we don't have any sense of urgency to slow down the process or speed it up," Luba said. "We're just letting it play out right now. We don't want to rush into anything without talking to everyone and seeing what's out there before making a decision."

Bauer led the NL in ERA (1.73), WHIP (0.79), complete games (two), and shutouts (two) while recording 100 strikeouts to only 17 walks.

Meanwhile, the Mets are reportedly targeting more than one high-profile addition this offseason, a group including Bauer, George Springer, J.T. Realmuto, and trade-target Francisco Lindor.

New York has already re-signed righty Marcus Stroman and added reliever Trevor May this winter. The club's new owner Steve Cohen, who happens to be the richest in baseball, is also creating a lot of buzz with his ambitions to field a contender.
