Report: Lowry likes 76ers if Raptors seek trade
Kyle Lowry would like to play for his hometown 76ers in the event the Toronto Raptors deal him prior to the trade deadline, sources told the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.
The Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat are also potential suitors for the six-time All-Star, according to Pompey.
There is no indication that the Raptors would consider trading their franchise point guard. The team is 9-5 since Jan. 31 and has moved up to fifth place in the Eastern Conference. However, Lowry's contract expires after this season, and he turns 35 on March 25 - the same day as the trade deadline.
If a potential deal is discussed, the Raptors would likely want draft picks, young players, and expiring contracts to match Lowry's $30-million salary, Pompey reports.
Lowry was born and raised in Philadelphia, playing his college basketball at suburban Villanova.
He's averaging 18 points and 6.5 assists to go with 39.5% 3-point shooting for the Raptors this season.
