Wilson says he's 'really close' to 100%
Russell Wilson is feeling almost as good as ever.
In his first interview since being cleared to return from his finger injury, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback said Thursday that he's happy with how his recovery process developed, and he's nearly fully recovered.
"I'm not 100 percent yet, but I'm pretty dang close," said Wilson, who hasn't played since Week 5 due to a ruptured tendon in the middle finger of his throwing hand, according to Adam Maya of NFL.com.
"I don't need to wear a glove. The hand feels strong."
Wilson returned to practice this week and is on track to play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
The star signal-caller was expected to miss at least four weeks after being placed on injured reserve on Oct. 15. His initial recovery timetable had him sidelined for up to eight weeks.
"My whole mindset was to cut the time in half," he said. "I even beat my own plan by having amazing people."
The Seahawks, who're coming off a bye, went 1-2 without Wilson. Seattle sits last in the NFC West at 3-5, but the team is only one game behind the Atlanta Falcons, the current No. 7 seed in the NFC playoff standings.
