Report: Bieniemy returning as Chiefs offensive coordinator
Eric Bieniemy will return as Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator for the 2022 season, a team source told NFL.com's Jeffri Chadiha.
Bieniemy's contract with the Chiefs was reportedly set to expire following the 2021 campaign, but he will remain with the team on a new one-year contract, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The 52-year-old Bieniemy has been with the team since 2013. He originally started as the running backs coach before taking over the offensive coordinator job in 2018. The unit has finished no worse than sixth in scoring while he's held the role and has ranked top five in that category on three occasions.
Bieniemy has garnered significant interest as a head coaching candidate in recent offseasons but hasn't landed a job. The New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos interviewed Bieniemy earlier this year but didn't hire him.
