T-Wolves' Edwards, Raptors' Siakam, Kings' Fox named All-Star replacements
NBA commissioner Adam Silver has named Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam, and Sacramento Kings floor general De'Aaron Fox as injury replacements for next week's All-Star Game in Salt Lake City.
With Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Zion Williamson all slated to miss the showcase due to injury, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen, and Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant have also been elevated from All-Star reserves to starters.
Edwards, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 draft, is averaging a career-high 24.7 points on 46.4% shooting. The 21-year-old ranks eighth in the Association with 1.7 steals per game and ninth with 157 total 3-pointers.
Siakam, 28, is heading to the annual midseason exhibition for the second time in his career. The 2019 Most Improved Player has been the driving force of the Raptors' offense this season, registering 25 points, eight boards, and 6.2 assists across 46 appearances.
Fox has been a key factor in the Kings' strong campaign. The 25-year-old has been particularly effective in clutch situations, tallying an NBA-leading 128 points while shooting nearly 60% from the field.
