Report: Saints, Titans, Jets, Panthers to pursue Carr upon release Tuesday

The New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers will be among the teams interested in signing Derek Carr once he's released Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Carr is expected to be released by the Las Vegas Raiders before 4 p.m. ET Tuesday when $40 million of the signal caller's 2023 pay would become guaranteed.

The team attempted to trade Carr, but the quarterback's no-trade clause allowed him to refuse any deals. The Raiders and Saints, the latter of which the 31-year-old met with last week, reportedly had the base of a deal agreed to had Carr been willing to accept a trade.

Carr will be eligible to sign a deal with a new team immediately upon his release, not needing to wait until March 15 when the new league year and free agency officially open.

The Saints have Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill under contract for 2023. Winston was unable to hold onto the job, being replaced by Andy Dalton, while Hill continues to be used in a unique hybrid role for the Saints. Hill attempted just 19 passes this season.

Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis are currently on Tennessee's payroll for next season. Tannehill, 35, finished the season on injured reserve with an ankle injury, while Willis struggled in limited action.

The Jets, which have also been linked to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, rode a quarterback rollercoaster this season with Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Joe Flacco all starting multiple games. Wilson is the only one of the trio signed for 2023.

Matt Corral, who missed the entirety of his rookie season with a Lisfranc injury, and Jacob Eason are the only passers Carolina currently rosters. Sam Darnold, P.J. Walker, and Baker Mayfield all started multiple games for the Panthers in 2022. Mayfield was released during the season and finished the year with the Los Angeles Rams.
