Sources: Jets add Lazard on 4-year, $44M deal
One of Aaron Rodgers' longtime targets is headed to New York.
The Jets are signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard to a four-year, $44-million contract that includes $22 million guaranteed, sources told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.
Lazard spent his entire five-year career in Green Bay with Rodgers, who reportedly met with the Jets last Tuesday to discuss a potential trade. Rodgers has yet to announce his plans for the 2023 season.
The 27-year-old put up his best numbers in 2022, his first season as Rodgers' No. 1 receiving target following the departure of longtime wideout Davante Adams. He led the Packers in targets (100), receptions (60), and receiving yards (788). His six touchdowns were the second most on the team.
Lazard joins a New York receiving corps that also features Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore, among others.
His vertical ability figures to be an asset for a Jets team that struggled to get production from its receivers outside of Wilson last season. Wilson, the No. 10 pick in the 2022 draft, recorded 1,103 yards last season. No other player recorded more than 600 yards.
