Cowboys' Pollard expects to be cleared by training camp: 'I feel faster'
Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard doesn't just feel as good as his pre-injury self - he feels even better.
"Honestly I feel faster. ... I just feel like I got a lot of juice in me left," Pollard said Thursday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
Pollard, who's been recovering from a procedure on his tibia and fibula, has only participated in walkthroughs during Cowboys OTAs. But the 26-year-old noted that he's progressing well, and he expects to be fully cleared to practice by training camp.
"I would say I'm not really limited at this point," Pollard added. "It's just being smart with it, just trying to work my way back in slowly and make sure I'm in tip-top shape when I get out there so it's not a falloff."
Pollard put together his best season as an NFL pro in 2022 as he outproduced Ezekiel Elliot by putting up a team-high 1,007 rushing yards. The Cowboys rewarded Pollard with the franchise tag this offseason, while Elliott was released after seven seasons.
If his recovery goes as planned, Pollard will enter the upcoming season as Dallas' undisputed lead running back. Backing him up are the likes of rookie rusher Deuce Vaughn and veteran back Ronald Jones, among others.
