Report: Kuzma turns down $13M option to become free agent
Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma will become a free agent after declining his $13-million player option for next season, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 27-year-old can still return to Washington on a new deal.
Kuzma is coming off a career year in his second season with the Wizards. He tallied a personal-best 21.2 points per game to go with 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists through 64 games. He also led Wes Unseld Jr.'s squad in minutes at 35 minutes per contest.
The Wizards are in a state of flux after reportedly trading longtime franchise star Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. In return, Washington will acquire 12-time All-Star guard Chris Paul, though it's not clear if the team intends to retain Paul or reroute him elsewhere this summer.
