Report: Bills signing Joey Bosa to 1-year, $12.6M deal
The Buffalo Bills are signing five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa to a one-year, $12.6-million contract, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Bosa's deal includes $12 million guaranteed and can reach up to $15.6 million with incentives, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins were other teams interested in acquiring Bosa, sources told The Athletic's Dianna Russini. Bosa bypassed an opportunity to play with his younger brother, Nick Bosa, who plays with the Niners.
The 29-year-old pass-rusher was released by the Los Angeles Chargers after nine seasons and was the last remaining active player on the roster who played for the franchise when it was in San Diego.
Bosa emerged as one of the more versatile edge rushers since being drafted third overall in 2016. He recorded double-digit sacks in each of his first two seasons, including a career-high 12.5 sacks in 2017. Injuries have limited the Ohio State product throughout his career.
Buffalo is also reportedly slated to sign former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi to a one-year, $8.3-million contract, according to Rapoport. The contract contains $8 million guaranteed and could reach up to $10 million with incentives.
Ogunjobi has spent the last three seasons in Pittsburgh, appearing in 48 games and recording six sacks. His best season came in 2021 when he recorded a career-high seven sacks as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bills have been focused on improving a pass rush that recorded 39 sacks (tied for 18th in NFL) in 2024. The Bills rewarded Greg Rousseau with a four-year, $80-million extension and released veteran Von Miller after three seasons.
Buffalo continues to bolster its roster this offseason with additions on both sides of the ball. Bosa joins former Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer and former Los Angeles Rams pass-rusher Michael Hoecht among the Bills' free-agent signings.
Bosa recorded 22 tackles, five tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hits, and five sacks in 14 games in 2024.
