The Toronto Maple Leafs re-signed forward Pontus Holmberg to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $800,000, the team announced Wednesday.
Holmberg played his first full season in North America in 2022-23. The 24-year-old scored 13 points in 37 games with the Maple Leafs and 22 points in 38 AHL contests with the Toronto Marlies. He was a restricted free agent.
The Swede was the SHL playoff MVP in 2021 after registering 14 points in 14 postseason games with the Vaxjo Lakers en route to the league championship. Holmberg has represented Sweden at the world juniors, World Championships, and Olympics.
Toronto drafted Holmberg 156th overall in 2018.
