Rangers' Jung fractures thumb fielding ball

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung fractured his left thumb during Sunday's contest against the Miami Marlins, manager Bruce Bochy said postgame.

"We had it X-rayed. ... That's all I can give you right now," Bochy said, according to Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News. "He'll see a specialist, we'll see where we're at, what needs to be done, whatever. We just don't know yet."

Jung sustained the injury in the sixth inning while knocking down a line drive off the bat of Jorge Soler. He stepped on third and threw to second to convert the double play but was replaced defensively. Ezequiel Duran entered the game at short, shifting Josh Smith to the hot corner.

There is no timetable yet for Jung's return.

The 25-year-old rookie has played an integral role in the Rangers' success this season, becoming a first-time All-Star. Through 109 games this year, Jung is hitting .274/.323/.489 with 22 homers and one stolen base.
