Report: Hornets interviewing Redick for head coach
The Charlotte Hornets are interviewing JJ Redick for their head coaching vacancy, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Redick reportedly interviewed for the Toronto Raptors' job opening last offseason but ultimately lost out to Darko Rajakovic.
Redick played 15 years in the Association after a standout collegiate career at Duke. The sharpshooting guard averaged 12.8 points during his time in the NBA and sits 20th on the league's all-time list for threes (1950).
Redick was the first NBA player and second pro athlete to start a weekly podcast during the regular season. He currently hosts "The Old Man and the Three" with Tommy Alter and "Mind the Game" alongside LeBron James.
Redick joined ESPN as an on-air analyst in November 2021 following his retirement. He's a color commentator on the company's lead NBA broadcast team with Mike Breen and Doris Burke.
Hornets head coach Steve Clifford stepped down from his position at the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.
David Adelman of the Denver Nuggets, Charles Lee of the Boston Celtics, Lindsey Harding of the G League's Stockton Kings, and former Vanderbilt coach Jerry Stackhouse are among the candidates Charlotte has apparently spoken to.
