Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly agreed to a restructured contract that will keep him in place for at least the 2024-25 campaign, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski.

Connelly could've opted out of his contract and entered free agency this summer. Instead, he agreed to move his opt-out clause to next year, add Charania and Krawczynski.

Connelly reportedly drew interest from the Detroit Pistons before they hired Trajan Langdon as their new president of basketball operations.

Connelly was the architect of the core that brought the Denver Nuggets their first championship in franchise history. He left the organization after nine seasons in May 2022 to join the T-Wolves on a reported five-year, $40-million contract.

Connelly didn't wait long to leave his mark, acquiring Rudy Gobert in a blockbuster deal with the Utah Jazz just a few months into his Minnesota tenure.

The T-Wolves were eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs during Connelly's first year in charge. However, they took a big step during the 2023-24 campaign, winning 56 games and reaching their first West final in 20 years.
