Wake Forest hires Washington State's Dickert as head coach
Former Washington State head coach Jake Dickert will take over the same role with Wake Forest, the program announced Wednesday.
"I cannot tell you how excited, proud, and honored I am to be the head football coach at Wake Forest University," Dickert said in a statement, adding, "My number one priority will be building relationships with our current student-athletes and earning their trust."
Dickert took over as Washington State's interim head coach in 2021 before holding the full-time job from 2022-24.
The 41-year-old owns a 23-20 record, including an 8-4 mark in 2024.
"Jake Dickert is the perfect fit to lead Wake Forest football into our next chapter of football success," vice president and athletic director John Currie said.
Currie added, "Jake's philosophy of fostering personal growth, cultivating trust within the team, and relentlessly competing for championships embodies the principles we hold dear.
Wake Forest is fresh off a 4-8 campaign that marked the second consecutive losing season for the school. The program went 2-6 in ACC games.
Dave Clawson stepped down Monday after 11 years as Wake Forest's sideline boss.
