Jaguars request meeting with Lions' Johnson
The Jacksonville Jaguars requested an interview with Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson for their head coach job, the team announced Tuesday.
Multiple teams have reportedly expressed interest in Johnson. The 38-year-old led the Lions' offense to a franchise record in points scored in 2024. Detroit also ranked second in total yards (409.5) and first in points (33.2) per game this season.
Under now-fired coach Doug Pederson, the Jaguars averaged 306.2 yards and 18.8 points per contest this campaign, which placed 25th and 26th in the league, respectively.
Johnson is allowed to interview virtually this week with the Lions on a bye after securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Jacksonville is also interested in speaking with Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen, Rapoport reports.
