Kraken acquire Marchment from Stars for 2 picks
The Seattle Kraken acquired forward Mason Marchment from the Dallas Stars for a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2026 third-round selection, the teams announced Thursday.
Marchment tallied 22 goals and 47 points in 62 games this season. He added one goal and five points over 18 playoff games.
The 30-year-old is signed through 2025-26 at a $4.5-million cap hit.
"I think Mason has a unique combination of size, skill, and strength," Kraken general manager Jason Botterill said. "He works well down in the corners and around the net, and that's an element we want to continue to add to our group here."
Botterill noted Marchment's playoff experience as well.
"He's been in three conference finals in a row," Botterill said. "He knows the intensity of playoff hockey."
Marchment joined Dallas on a four-year contract in 2022 after a breakout campaign with the Florida Panthers. He notched a career-high 53 points in 2023-24.
The 6-foot-5 winger has accumulated 76 goals, 189 points, and 258 penalty minutes in 302 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Panthers, and Stars. Marchment has added 11 goals and 19 points in 59 career postseason contests.
The Stars had less than $500,000 in cap space before trading Marchment, according to PuckPedia. Dallas re-signed the team's leading scorer, Matt Duchene, at a $4.5-million cap hit earlier Thursday.
Seattle has over $15 million in cap room after adding Marchment, with restricted free agents Kaapo Kakko and Ryker Evans still to be re-upped, according to PuckPedia.
