The two-time defending World Series champions made another massive statement Thursday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers landed Kyle Tucker in free agency, the four-time All-Star outfielder confirmed on Instagram.

Tucker agreed to a four-year, $240-million contract, sources told Robert Murray of FanSided.

The deal includes opt-out clauses after the second and third years, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, and includes $30 million in deferrals, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network. The contract also has a $64-million signing bonus that includes $54 million up front, a source told Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

The 28-year-old's reported average annual value of $60 million will be the second highest in baseball, trailing only new teammate Shohei Ohtani. When factoring in the deferrals, Tucker's $57.1-million AAV will beat Juan Soto's previous record of $51 million, sources told Rosenthal.

Tucker, who was widely considered the top available free agent, reportedly met with the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets before picking the Dodgers. The Mets' final offer was $220 million over four years, sources told Will Sammon of The Athletic, who adds that New York's proposed pact didn't contain deferrals and had a $75-million signing bonus. It's believed the Blue Jays were the only team willing to give Tucker a long-term contract, but details of their offer haven't been reported.

Los Angeles has now added Tucker and All-Star closer Edwin Díaz this offseason in an attempt to become the first team to win three straight titles since the New York Yankees from 1998-2000.

The Dodgers paid a record luxury tax of $169.4 million in 2025 before having another huge winter.

Dodgers' projected 2026 lineup

Tucker, a Gold Glove winner in 2022, owns a .273/.358/.507 slash line with 147 home runs, 490 RBIs, and 119 steals in eight seasons between the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs will receive the Dodgers' third- and sixth-highest picks in this year's draft because Tucker had a qualifying offer attached to him. Los Angeles already surrendered its second- and fifth-highest selections along with $1 million from its international bonus pool for signing Díaz in December.
