Report: Pickens signing franchise tag with Cowboys
Wide receiver George Pickens is signing his franchise tag with the Dallas Cowboys, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The decision comes a day after Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said that Pickens won't receive a long-term contract this offseason.
In February, Dallas placed a one-year tag worth $27.3 million on Pickens, who earned a second-team All-Pro berth last season, his first campaign with the team. By signing the tag hours before the NFL draft, Pickens becomes eligible to be traded.
The 25-year-old caught 93 passes for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns last year. With Pickens and CeeDee Lamb, Dallas boasts one of the NFL's most explosive pass-catching duos.
The Cowboys landed Pickens as part of a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason.
