Brendan Schaub moving down to light heavyweight

Brendan Schaub is making the cut down to 205 pounds.

The 32-year-old announced the decision on "The Fighter & The Kid" podcast Friday. Schaub is a career heavyweight that competed on "The Ultimate Fighter 10," when he made the final against Roy Nelson in December 2009.

"As far as the fight game goes, I've dealt with some injuries as far as my neck, went back into training, it gave me some issues so we decided to take a little more time off," Schaub said. "The plan is 205 and I will fight in 2015 at 205, light heavyweight."

The announcement comes after Schaub's latest loss at UFC 181 in December, when he was finished by Travis Browne via TKO with 10 seconds remaining in the first round. He currently holds an overall MMA record of 10-5 and is 6-5 in the UFC.
