Chris Mason announces retirement from pro hockey, joins Predators' radio network
Chris Mason is back in Nashville.
The former NHL goalie has retired from professional hockey and will join the Predators' radio network as a part-time color analyst, the club announced Tuesday.
"I am excited and happy to be back in Nashville with my family for the next chapter of our lives," Mason said. "I am really looking forward to rejoining the Nashville Predators family and working with all my friends in the organization.
"I love hockey, I love the fans of hockey and this opportunity gives me a chance to stay involved in the sport I have dedicated so much of my life to. I look forward to this new challenge of broadcasting and being part of the team that gave me my first opportunity to play in the NHL."
A fifth-round draft pick of the New Jersey Devils in 1995, Mason appeared in 317 career games with the Predators, St. Louis Blues, and Winnipeg Jets, posting a record of 137-113-1-31 and a .909 save percentage.
Mason spent the past two seasons playing in Europe, most recently for the Augsburg Panthers of the German Hockey League.
