Report: Leon Hall underwent back surgery ahead of free agency

Veteran cornerback Leon Hall remains unsigned now more than a month into free agency, and it appears as though the absence of a new deal can be attributed to his health.

The former Cincinnati Bengals defensive back underwent back surgery following the 2015 season, team color analyst Dave Lapham told James Repien of ESPN 1530.

When the disc injury came about late in the year, the 31-year-old reportedly required epidurals to play.

Hall took visits with both the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals early in the offseason, but it remains unclear whether a deal with either team can be expected when he recovers.

The 2007 first-round pick was a key contributor for the better part of his nine-year career in Cincinnati, including a 2015 campaign in which he primarily saw work as the club's nickel corner.
