15 moments that defined the craziest NFL offseason in memory
May and June are typically a slow time in the NFL news cycle. They'll be a welcome respite this year, as players, fans, and media alike are still buzzing off what may have been the most bonkers offseason in history.
Let's run down the 15 craziest things that happened since the confetti fell after Super Bowl 50.

15. Everything Johnny Manziel did
There isn't one specific Johnny Manziel moment that stands above the others in this offseason for the ages, so let's lump them all together. The former Cleveland Browns quarterback was dropped by his NFL team, dropped by two different agents, accused of assaulting and threatening to kill his then-girlfriend, indicted by a grand jury, spotted partying in various cities, and accused of trashing a rental property after a drug-fueled party. Oh, and he might have gotten matching marijuana-themed hand tattoos with ex-teammate Josh Gordon, another player who isn't exactly on the NFL's good side right now.
14. Star players walk away
Of the several superstar players the NFL lost to retirement in recent months, Marshawn Lynch and Calvin Johnson were easily the most surprising. Both would have been just 30 years old heading into the 2016 campaign and there's little doubt they'd still be capable of playing at the NFL level. Don't be surprised if the occasional comeback rumor surfaces in the years ahead.
13. Super Bowl champs lose both QBs in short order
In an almost unprecedented series of events, a team coming off a Super Bowl win will be without the two quarterbacks that led it to the title. Not since the Ravens let Trent Dilfer walk following their Super Bowl win in 2000, or since the Broncos had to replace a retiring John Elway in 1999, has a team's quarterback situation been such a mystery following a championship. The Broncos weren't surprised by once again facing the prospect of replacing a legend when Peyton Manning retired, but they didn't count on losing Brock Osweiler, too. Osweiler caused the biggest wave in free agency by jumping ship for Houston, and while the Broncos may be better off with the cheaper Paxton Lynch, it was a storyline like few others in NFL history.
12. Colts flirt with Payton before keeping Grigson, Pagano
Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson were dead men walking. Sean Payton's franchise-saving time with the Saints appeared at an end, and the Colts were his most likely destination. It was all set up for a move that would shift the landscape of the NFL. Instead: nothing. Indianapolis shocked everyone by not only retaining Pagano and Grigson (after reported negotiations with Payton led nowhere), but tying its future to them by handing both new contracts. Payton quickly announced he never had any intention of leaving New Orleans, and for once in the reactionary world of the NFL, we were shocked by what didn't happen.
11. Rams move, Chargers stay, Raiders consider Vegas
It took more than two decades, but the NFL finally has a team back in Los Angeles. After years of negotiations, the Rams were awarded the right to relocate to the second-largest media market in the country. The relocation stories won't end there, though, as both the Chargers and Raiders remain in search of new homes. Either could join the Rams in L.A. barring a stadium deal in their respective local markets, and the Raiders also now seem to be serious about the possibility of moving to Las Vegas.
