Report: Hall of Fame to replace stadium turf
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is already setting out to ensure that Sunday's debacle doesn't repeat itself.
After field issues led to the cancellation of the preseason-opening matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers, the turf at Tom Benson field is scheduled to be replaced, reports Steve Wyche of NFL Network.
Ensuring paint can no longer have an impact on the condition of the playing surface, as was the case both at midfield and in the endzone Sunday, all logos will reportedly be applied by way of stitching.
Reports from Canton following the official decision to call the game was that the way the paint dried left the field feeling like cement in some locations.
Such circumstances, of course, would have made for a glaring safety hazard.
Players remained on location following the cancellation to sign autographs for attendees. Hall of Fame president David Baker also announced that fans would receive a full refund for tickets purchased.
