Browns' Gordon activated, expected to practice Monday

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been activated from the non-football injury list, the team announced.

Gordon is immediately eligible to practice for the first time this year, and the Browns told reporters that he'll participate in some capacity during Monday's team session.

The 25-year-old wideout had returned from suspension on a conditional basis to begin training camp, but a quad injury suffered over the offseason forced him to begin the summer schedule on the sidelines.

If able to return to his 2013 form, Gordon will provide the rebuilding Browns offense with a substantial upgrade in play-making ability, opposite first-round wideout Corey Coleman.

His talent was on full display through the season the preceded his third violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, as he hauled in 87 receptions for a league-best 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns.

After serving an additional four games to start the 2016 campaign, a condition for his reinstatement, Gordon will first be eligible to play in Week 5 against the New England Patriots.
