The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed veteran wide receiver Cecil Shorts.

Official terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but a source told ESPN's Adam Caplan that the two sides reached an agreement on a one-year contract.

Reports first surfaced Tuesday morning indicating that Shorts was headed to Tampa Bay for a workout, and the team evidently came away encouraged by the potential fit.

Provided that he can stay healthy, the 28-year-old gives the team an established pass-catcher capable of working in the slot between Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.

Shorts tallied 42 receptions for 484 yards and two touchdowns across just 11 games and four starts in his lone season with the Houston Texans last year.

He played three seasons in a Jacksonville Jaguars uniform after joining the club as a fourth-round pick in 2011. The final three years of that stretch were far and away the most productive of his young career, where he recorded 174 receptions, 2,313 yards, and 11 touchdowns.

Tampa Bay waived undrafted rookie receiver Evan Spencer in a corresponding roster move.
