Denver Broncos general manager John Elway announced Saturday that his team interviewed Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan for its vacant head coach position.
"He's a very bright coach who's had a tremendous year and has a great future," Elway wrote.
The interview took place in Atlanta, as the Falcons are getting ready for the divisional round after earning a bye.
While Shanahan is expected to talk with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, too, the Broncos are reportedly his preferred destination.
The Falcons had the second-ranked offense in the NFL this season, Shanahan's second campaign in charge of the unit.
