Collins: Giants DBs turned down boat trip invite
The infamous boat trip that allowed headlines to write themselves following the New York Giants' first-round playoff exit nearly had a few more attendees.
Safety Landon Collins explained in a Wednesday appearance on "SportsCenter" that the defensive backs were invited to join the wide receivers for the trip that followed New York's regular-season finale.
Given the fallout, he and the rest of the secondary are likely pleased with their decision to take a pass.
"We actually were invited. We decided not to go," Collins said, according to Jordan Ranaan of ESPN. "Just we wanted - there's a receivers group and there is (a defensive backs) group - so it was like, I'm going to go with my DBs. And we decided to do something different."
Then again, perhaps they simply made the better move in not advertising their off-day activities on social media. Asked what the defensive backs did instead, Collins declined to specify.
"I can't say out loud," Collins said with a laugh.
The Giants, who were sent home following a blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round, face a long offseason of boat-related jokes before they have an opportunity to get back on the right track next fall.
