Brady sidesteps question about congratulatory call to Trump
Tom Brady knows better than to touch that subject.
Asked during Friday's media session about a congratulatory call he placed to Donald Trump made public knowledge by the newly inaugurated president himself, the New England Patriots quarterback aimed to keep the discussion on the upcoming AFC Championship Game.
"I don't have much to say," Brady said, via Ben Volin of The Boston Globe. "Did I call him? Let's talk about football."
Brady has called Trump a "good friend" and first revealed in September 2015 that he was pulling for him to win the presidency.
When Trump's controversial views on a number of issues made his support all the more noteworthy, however, the veteran signal-caller began to avoid political topics altogether.
An October question about Trump's "locker-room talk" led to Brady abruptly ending a press conference, and he declined to comment on the result of the election back in November.
