Report: Jaguars expected to land Barry Church with 4-year deal
The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign free-agent safety Barry Church to a four-year contract that exceeds $6 million per season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Rapoport adds that a change of heart would be the only potential hold up, but that's a risk for any team agreeing to terms before signings can become official when the new league year opens Thursday.
Church lands his pay day after a highly productive second half to his seven-year stint with the Dallas Cowboys.
The 29-year-old started all 59 appearances over the last four seasons, racking up 434 tackles, five interceptions, and 16 passes defensed.
He'll bring some added versatility, contributing both as a run defender and in coverage, while stepping in as the starting strong safety for impending free agent Johnathan Cyprien.
