Mike Williams posts 40 time in 4.5 range at Clemson pro day
Depending on your stopwatch, Mike Williams may have silenced any lingering concerns about his speed in front of NFL scouts Thursday.
Varying reports from Clemson's pro day had the top wide receiver prospect running the 40-yard dash anywhere between 4.49 and 4.58.

Pro day times are to be taken with a grain of salt, as all scores are coming from hand times rather the lasers used at the NFL combine. Given that Williams opted against running in Indianapolis, though, this will be the only number teams can work.
Running in the 4.5s isn't exactly spectacular for a wide receiver, but it's certainly impressive for one with Williams' size.
Numbers in that range should give teams confidence in his athleticism to complement his rare ability to dominate in contested situations, potentially even locking him in as an early first-round pick.
Williams makes the jump to the NFL after a stellar redshirt junior season, in which his 98 receptions for 1,361 yards and 11 touchdowns helped Clemson to a national title.
