Ryan Tannehill may not be in the clear just yet.

Countering an earlier report that stated the Miami Dolphins quarterback had avoided any structural damage to his knee, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald cites multiple sources indicating the MRI Tannehill underwent following Thursday's practice was actually inconclusive.

Further tests are still required and all options, including the possibility of surgery, reportedly remain on the table.

Tannehill seemingly re-injuring the same knee in which he partially tore his ACL last year, an ailment that forced him to miss the final three games of the regular season and Miami's lone playoff contest, was a major cause for concern earlier in the day Thursday.

The initial report provided some incredibly positive news on that front, but it now appears to be more of a fluid situation as player and team await the results of additional medical evaluations.

Longtime backup Matt Moore will step in to lead the Dolphins' first-team offense for the time being. Should Tannehill be forced to the sidelines for any length of time, Miami would presumably respond by weighing its options on the trade market or in free agency.

Tannehill had been enjoying one of the more efficient seasons of his career following the arrival of head coach Adam Gase in 2016. Guiding the Dolphins to an 8-5 record over his 13 starts, the former first-round pick connected on 67.1 percent of passes for 2,995 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
