Broncos' draft makes future cloudy for Thomas, Sanders
The Denver Broncos apparently weren't pleased with the production of their wide receivers last year, as the club selected two players at the position in the opening four rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The AFC West club took SMU standout Courtland Sutton in the second round before grabbing Penn State star DaeSean Hamilton in the fourth round Saturday.
Those picks cast doubt on the futures of Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders in Denver. The veterans are slated to make a combined $22.9 million next season, and the club has an out on both of their contracts after the 2018 campaign.
At 6-foot-3 and 218 pounds, Sutton would be a natural replacement for the 30-year-old Thomas. Hamilton's precise route-running skills, meanwhile, would make for an excellent No. 2 option in the future, taking the place of the 31-year-old Sanders.
