Darnold cleared to start vs. Cowboys

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has been cleared to return and will start against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, the team announced Tuesday.
Darnold, the third overall pick of the 2018 draft, has missed three games since contracting mononucleosis after New York's season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills. He was cleared for non-contact activities last week.
New York didn't score a single passing touchdown with Darnold on the shelf while averaging just 7.6 points per game. In Week 4, the Jets fell 31-6 to the Philadelphia Eagles as backup pivot Luke Falk was sacked nine times and intercepted twice.
At 0-4, the Jets are one of four winless teams in the NFL.
