Bills' Allen: 'I'm nowhere near where I need to be'

While the Buffalo Bills are 6-3 this season, second-year quarterback Josh Allen and the offense have often struggled to score.

Through nine starts, Allen has completed 59.9% of his throws for 10 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions. He completed just 54% of his passes over the last three contests, which saw Buffalo lose twice, including a 19-16 defeat to the Cleveland Browns in Week 10.

"I know I'm nowhere near where I need to be, nowhere near where I want to be," Allen said Wednesday, according to Matt Parrino of NewYorkUpstate.com. "Where I want to be is higher than where I need to be. I hold myself to a very high standard."

The Bills have been held under 20 points five times this season and they've yet to beat a team with a winning record.

However, head coach Sean McDermott is still backing Allen, who was drafted seventh overall last year - the earliest Buffalo has ever selected a quarterback.

"I remain confident in Josh,” McDermott said. "When you look at what we've been able to do with the way he's been able to develop in short-to-intermediate (throws) this year, and certainly I understand (he needs to be able to) go down the field with accuracy."

The Bills will try to bounce back from their loss to Cleveland on the road against the Miami Dolphins in Week 11.
