Stafford set to miss 2nd straight game with back injury
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will miss Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a back injury that also forced him to sit out Week 10, head coach Matt Patricia announced on Friday, according to Tim Twentyman of the team's official site.
Jeff Driskel will again start in Stafford's place. The backup went 27-of-46 passing for 269 yards in last week's 20-13 defeat to the Chicago Bears.
Driskel also threw one touchdown and an interception in the loss that dropped Detroit to 3-5-1 and to the bottom of the NFC North.
Stafford is reportedly dealing with fractured bones in his back, an injury that occurred last season. The Lions' injury report also lists a hip issue for the pivot after he wasn't able to practice this week.
The NFL is reportedly looking into how the Lions handled the reporting of Stafford's back injury prior to the signal-caller sitting out against the Bears.
