Stafford to miss 3rd straight game, won't play vs. Redskins
Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia announced that quarterback Matthew Stafford won't play in the team's Week 12 matchup against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, according to Dave Birkett of Detroit Free Press.
Stafford is reportedly dealing with fractured bones in his back, an injury that occurred last season. He has missed two games this year because of the issue.
Doctors apparently said that the signal-caller's injury should require six weeks of recovery, but the Lions consider the 31-year-old's status to be "week-to-week."
On Wednesday, Stafford said that there haven't been any discussions about sending him to injured reserve.
Fourth-year quarterback Jeff Driskel will make his third consecutive start for the 3-6-1 Lions. He lost the previous two tilts, completing 58.3% of his passes and throwing for 478 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
