Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon is suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL's policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse, the team announced Monday.
This is the fifth time the NFL has suspended the 28-year-old for substance abuse.
Gordon was first disciplined in 2013 when he missed two games of his breakout year with the Cleveland Browns. The wideout played in only five contests during the following season due to another ban.
His longest suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy came in 2015 when he was sidelined for a year. The pass-catcher stepped away from football during the Browns' 2016 campaign to seek rehabilitation.
Gordon made his return in Week 13 of the 2017 season. He was traded the following year to the New England Patriots, for whom he played 11 games that campaign before facing another indefinite suspension on Dec. 20, 2018.
The Patriots waived Gordon from injured reserve this October, after which the Seahawks added the veteran playmaker.
Gordon amassed seven catches for 139 yards through five games with Seattle.
