Titans DC Pees retires after 47-year coaching career

Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees announced his retirement from football Monday.

Pees spent two seasons in Tennessee and saw the Titans finish with the NFL's third-best defensive unit in 2018. This year, the AFC finalists allowed 20.7 points and 359.5 yards per game, which ranked 12th and 21st in the league, respectively.

The 70-year-old is one of eight defensive coordinators in NFL history to coach in a Super Bowl with two different teams.

Pees has worked as a defensive coordinator for 10 seasons and has been coaching in some capacity for 47 years. He's spent time with a number of NFL teams, including the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.

The Dunkirk, Ohio, native served as Kent State head coach from 1998 to 2003, posting a 17-51 record.
