Henry Ruggs III was forced to sit out on-field drills at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday after suffering a quad injury during the 40-yard dash.
Ruggs, who was widely expected to be a star of this week's event, posted an official time of 4.27 seconds before being relegated to the sidelines with ice wrapped around his left thigh.
The 4.27 time comes in just short of John Ross' combine record (4.22), but puts Ruggs in a tie for the fourth-fastest mark since 2006.
One of several dynamic talents headlining an outstanding receiver class, Ruggs is expected to be a first-round pick in April's draft.
