Former NFL wide receiver Percy Harvin is attempting a comeback, he told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Wednesday.
Harvin is already eyeing a chance to play with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I had a dream a while ago when 12 was with the Patriots, that I would play for Tom Brady," he told Anderson. "That was well before the pandemic and he went to the Bucs, my comeback was already in the works. But I’m ready for any offense that'll just let me go."
Coming out of retirement seems to be all the rage now after Rob Gronkowski declared his return to football Tuesday. The legendary tight end was traded from New England to Tampa Bay to reunite with Brady.
Harvin initially retired after the 2015 season with the Buffalo Bills. He returned midway through the 2016 campaign before he began dealing with migraines again after just two games and was subsequently placed on the reserve/non-football illness list. He retired for the second time in March 2017.
The 2009 first-round pick's most productive seasons came in his first four years in the league with the Minnesota Vikings. He averaged 61.1 receiving yards per game, equating to 978 yards per 16 contests. He was dynamic on special teams, returning five kicks to the house over those four seasons, and earned Pro Bowl honors in 2010 as a return man.
The soon-to-be 32-year-old was never able to replicate the productivity he enjoyed with the Vikings after he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2013 for a first- and seventh-round pick. He played in just one regular-season game in 2013 due to injury, but was able to suit up in the Super Bowl, returning the second-half opening kickoff for a touchdown while helping Seattle win its first title.
