Report: Ravens exploring whether Earl Thomas violated contract

The Baltimore Ravens are looking into the incident involving Earl Thomas to determine whether the safety's conduct violates his contract, a team official told the Baltimore Sun's Jonas Shaffer and Jessica Anderson.

The official adds there were times when some Ravens coaches thought Thomas strayed from their team concept last season, according to Shaffer and Anderson, who also mention that the veteran's struggles learning the defense sometimes put him at odds with teammates.

Thomas' wife Nina allegedly held him at gunpoint after finding the seven-time Pro Bowler and his brother in bed with other women at a rental home in April. Court documents indicate Nina was arrested, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

If the Ravens decide to release him, a contract violation could void the $10 million fully guaranteed salary Thomas is set to earn this season.

The Ravens signed Thomas to a four-year, $55-million deal in 2019. The contract includes $32 million in guaranteed money, $20 million of which came as a signing bonus earned last year.
