NFL extends virtual offseason with no in-person minicamps
The NFL notified all teams on Thursday that it is extending the virtual offseason through June 26 with no in-person minicamps as the league continues to make plans to return amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teams have the option to extend their offseason program for another two weeks or discontinue after this week, Pelissero adds.
The majority of clubs recently reopened their facilities for a limited amount of personnel after the NFL closed them in April to combat the pandemic.
Commissioner Roger Goodell announced last week that training camps must only be held at main practice facilities rather than other sites. Joint practices won't be permitted.
Meanwhile, the NFL and NFLPA are reportedly discussing the possibility of certain players - such as rookies and veterans who changed clubs and require physicals - returning to team facilities on a limited basis prior to the end of the virtual offseason.
The league and its players' union are currently working together on remaining protocols for training camps to safely reopen.
