Buccaneers' Godwin out of concussion protocol, will play vs. Broncos
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has cleared the concussion protocol and will play in Week 3, head coach Bruce Arians said Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Godwin missed Sunday's matchup with the Carolina Panthers after developing concussion-related symptoms following the team's Week 1 loss. The Buccaneers receiver didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and returned in a limited capacity Friday, but he was later ruled out.
Tampa Bay's receiving corps has been dealing with injury issues. Mike Evans entered the season with a hamstring injury but caught seven passes for 104 yards and a touchdown in Week 2.
Godwin caught six passes for 79 receiving yards in the Bucs' Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The talented receiver set career highs in 2019, recording 86 receptions for 1,333 yards.
Quarterback Tom Brady will now have both his top receiving options for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.
