The Kansas City Chiefs caught a huge break in the first half of their Monday night matchup against the New England Patriots after officials ruled Patrick Mahomes in the grasp on a potential interception.

As Patriots pass-rusher Chase Winovich sacked Mahomes, the quarterback attempted to get the pass off and appeared to turn the ball over with New England recovering.

The officials had a different idea, though, ruling that Mahomes was in the grasp and wiping the potential turnover off the board.

The Chiefs quickly rushed to punt the football on the ensuing play, leaving the Patriots little time to react to the controversial call.

Needless to say, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick wasn't happy with the decision:

Tony Corrente, the referee behind the call, clarified the decision following the Chiefs' 26-10 win. Corrente also noted the Patriots wouldn't have been able to challenge the ruling.
