Saints rule Thomas out for MNF after reported altercation at practice
The New Orleans Saints ruled out wide receiver Michael Thomas for their Monday Night Football contest against the Los Angeles Chargers for disciplinary reasons, the team announced on Sunday.
His discipline is the result of an altercation with teammate and safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson at practice this weekend, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Thomas reportedly punched Gardner-Johnson during the fight.
The star wideout was sidelined during the Saints' previous three games due to an ankle injury, and he was listed as questionable on Saturday's injury report.
Thomas suffered a high ankle sprain in New Orleans' season opener and hasn't suited up since. He was initially eyeing a Week 5 return. The All-Pro practiced all week on a limited basis.
The Saints are 1-2 without Thomas this season. They defeated the Detroit Lions last week, ending their two-game skid.
Thomas led the NFL with 149 catches and 1,725 receiving yards in 2019, and he added nine touchdowns.
