Chargers' Keenan Allen suffers back injury in MNF loss to Saints
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen suffered a back injury during Monday's 30-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Allen spent most of the first half sidelined while getting stretched out by a trainer and was ruled out for the game after halftime.
The star wideout was off to a strong start to Monday Night Football, catching two passes for 29 yards and one touchdown in the first frame.
The eight-year veteran battled injuries early in his career but played a full campaign in each of the last three seasons. He's made the Pro Bowl in three straight years.
Allen, 28, was leading the Chargers with 32 receptions and 327 yards entering Week 5.
In Allen's absence, wide receiver Mike Williams racked up five receptions for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Hunter Henry and running back Justin Jackson were the only other Chargers to catch more than two passes on the night but they were limited to just 23 yards each.
